Hanoi to host Asia-Pacific Disability Forum Conference

The 2014 Asia & Pacific Disability Forum (APDF) General Conference will be held in Hanoi from November 26 to 28 as an appropriate celebration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (December 3).

The Vietnam Federation on Disability (VFD) told apress conference in Hanoi on November 21 that the biennial event isto review the progress made on the realisation of the rights of peoplewith disabilities set in a strategy reached at the first APDF inIncheon, the Republic of Korea in 2012.

With three plenarysessions, the conference will offer an opportunity for Vietnamesedisabled people to learn experience from those who share the same plightin all over the world.

Vietnam will take this occasion topromote its image to international friends and help them know more aboutthe Party and State’s attention to the implementation of the MillenniumDevelopment Goals, including the Law on Persons with Disabilities.

A number of side events will be organised on November 29,including a walking tour of Hanoi, a display of products made bydisabled people, a gala dinner and a singing contest.-VNA

Hanoi accelerates shift to green buses, targets 100% by 2030

In the 2027–2030 period, the city will accelerate the transition towards the complete phase-out of fossil fuel-powered buses. The share of electric and green energy-fueled buses is projected to reach 79–89% by 2029 and 100% by 2030.

The new central city square and administrative centre will create a modern, centralised political-administrative complex for Ho Chi Minh City, designed to house around 8,000 officials, civil servants, and employees.
