The first-ever national conference discussing Vietnam’s multilateral foreign affairs during the course of across-the-board international integration will take place in Hanoi on August 12, with around 200 delegates in and outside the country taking part.
It will be attended by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh, together with former Director General of the World Trade Organisation Pascal Lamy, former United Nations Under-Secretary General Jayantha Dhanapala and former Singaporean Foreign Minister George Yeo as keynote speakers.
The event will look to seek ways to improve Vietnam’s multilateral external relations and its contributions to issues of shared concerns, regionally and globally, as the country is expected to undertake many international roles in the next 5-10 years.
Representatives from ministries, agencies and localities are able to consult foreign experts about how to devise relevant policies in the context of global integration.
Participants will watch a clip reviewing Vietnam’s 30-year achievements in its multilateral external relations, and enjoy a display of photos featuring scores of tangible and intangible cultural heritage across the country, and other publications.
On the occasion, the Foreign Ministry and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry will host a round-table dialogue for local businesses and Pascal Lamy about multilateral trade commitments – opportunities and challenges facing Vietnamese enterprises.-VNA
