Hanoi (VNA) – The Politburo urged the Socioeconomic Sub-committee of the 14th National Party Congress to urgently finalise a draft report evaluating the five-year implementation of the 2021-2030 socioeconomic development strategy during a meeting in Hanoi on September 6.
The report, which will also set the course for the 2026-2030 socioeconomic development, is slated for submission to the 10th plenum of the 13th National Party Congress.
Party General Secretary and President To Lam commended the sub-committee for seriously considering feedback from Party Central Committee members at their 9th session, conducting in-depth studies on critical areas and resolutions of the Party Central Committee and Politburo to incorporate them into the draft report.
Lam noted that despite the unprecedented challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and global military conflicts, Vietnam has achieved remarkable success. The country has been elevated to the status of a newly industrialised country, surpassing the lower-middle-income threshold. Its Human Development Index has seen significant improvements, setting a solid foundation for future growth.
President Lam underlined the need for the draft report to clearly outline key tasks and solutions to further enhance institutions for development and improve the quality of socialist-oriented market economy institutions. This includes a strong focus on technological advancements, innovation, and digital transformation. Additionally, the report must address fundamental and comprehensive education and training reform, acceleration of industrialisation and modernisation, and economic restructuring in tandem with the renewing growth model.
Other critical areas highlighted include developing comprehensive infrastructure, fostering cultural development while ensuring social progress and equity, managing and using resources effectively, and protecting the environment. Strengthening national defence-security, improving external affairs effectiveness, promoting global integration, ensuring social safety and order, and advancing the construction of a socialist rule-of-law state are also of paramount significance./.
