Hanoi to host international telecom conference
The 2009 Vietnam
Telecom Growth Conference 2009 will be held in Hanoi from Sept. 23-24, said the organisers.
Co-organised by
the National Institute of Information and Communications Strategies (NIICS) and
the international market research and consulting firm Frost & Sullivan, the
conference is the ideal forum for local and foreign experts to discuss the
current situation in the sector and opportunities and challenges as well as
potentials for the country’s telecom industry in the years to come.
Marc Einstein,
Industry Manager for ICT Practice at Frost & Sullivan, will deliver a
speech at the meeting, focusing on a number of issues regarding Vietnam’s
telecom market in comparison with other regional markets.
The impacts of 3G
technology and what products and services domestic service providers should
supply to clients to ensure their success will also be analysed.
In recent years, Vietnam has
emerged as a major telecom market with one of the highest growth rates in the
Asia-Pacific region.
Industry insiders
say that the country boasts a huge potential as operators are expanding 2G and
preparing to launch 3G and WIMAX internet broadband services.
However, the telecom sector is facing a wide range
of challenges, including competition in charges, a drop in subscriber revenues,
improving the quality of services, increasing coverage and the need to build up
brand names and value added services./.
