Hanoi (VNA) - After two years being “frozen’ by the COVID-19 pandemic, Hanoi tourism will enter a new period of restoration and development, with various breakthroughs expected.

2022 will be the year in which Hanoi tourism expects to see comprehensive reforms and restructuring to become an economic sector modern, professional, trademarked, and highly competitive. The Hanoi Tourism Department will focus their study on the building of breakthrough products attractive to the new demands of customers.

This is an affirmation by Hanoi Tourism Department Director Dang Huong Giang on the plan for the restoration and development of tourism in the new year.

Focus placed on creation of high-quality tourism products

The leader said the sector has built a plan on the tourism restoration and development for the 2022-2023 period. Under the plan, from now to the end of 2022, the sector will work in a flexible way suitable to the developments of the pandemic. Focus will be placed on the coordination of actions among the sectors and localities, the raising of the quality of the destinations, and the creation of high-quality tourist products.

The department will, together with potential and advantageous districts such as Ba Vi, Son Tay, My Duc, Soc Son, Thuong Tin, Gia Lam and Dan Phuong invest in the building of a number of tourism development models in the direction of green tourism, Giang said.

To achieve the goal, Hanoi’s green economic sector will focus attention on the three breakthroughs: intensifying investment resources; building incentive mechanisms in support of the tourism development; and digital transformation so as to ensure the sustainable development and important contributions to the municipal economic growth, toward becoming a spearhead economic sector.

According to Giang, the Hanoi Tourism Department will focus its attention on the research and development of breakthrough and attractive products which can meet the tastes and needs of customers in the new period.

Besides, the tourism sector of Hanoi will intensify its connectivity with firms in tourism popularisation, cooperation, utilisation and development; and coordination with key localities such as Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang city in developing Hanoi’s advantageous tours. It will also join hands with domestic and foreign media to boost the popularisation of Hanoi images in preparation for the welcome back of foreign visitors.

Roadmap for Hanoi tourism

The plan on the restoration and development of Hanoi tourism in the 2022-2023 period will be implemented in two phases.

In the first phase which includes the first and second quarters of 2022, the activities to welcome and serve tourists in localities throughout the country will be associated with the fight against and control of the pandemic. Tourism management offices and firms will prepare all the resources and conditions to welcome foreign tourists when the government permits.

The tourism activities will be conducted depending on the pandemic levels in the city. In case the pandemic develops complicatedly, the scale and scope of the tourism activities will be adjusted to be suitable to the situation.

In the second phase starting from the third quarter of 2022, all the tourism operation and products will be restored limitlessly in the city, conditioned that they meet the safety requirements against the pandemic.

To achieve the goal, according to leading officials of the Hanoi People’s Committee, the Tourism Department and other relevant authorities need to concertedly implement various measures such as ensuring safety at destinations, building diverse, unique and attractive products, focusing on improving quality of the products and destinations in association of craft villages and heritage, and pushing up the building of tourism products on the basis of traditional tours.

Besides, the firms will intensify the popularisation and promotion work, accelerate the digital transformation in tourism activities, supporting firms in developing the human resources so as to meet the requirement of tourism restoration and preparing plans to welcome foreign visitors./.
