Hanoi to welcome about 14 million tourists in six months

The number of tourists to Hanoi in the first six months of this year is expected to reach 14.05 million, an increase of 13.7% compared to the same period in 2023, the municipal Department of Tourism reported.

Hanoi (VNA) – The number of tourists to Hanoi in the first six months of this year is expected to reach 14.05 million, an increase of 13.7% compared to the same period in 2023, the municipal Department of Tourism reported.

Of the figure, the number of international arrivals is forecast to hit 3.14 million, a surge of 52.6% year on year while domestic tourists are estimated at 10.3 million, up 6%.

Total revenue from tourism in the period is approximated at nearly 55.4 trillion VND (2.2 billion USD), a year-on-year expansion of 22.8%.

Hanoi has 4,760 accommodation establishments with a total of 71,246 rooms; of which 607 hotels and apartment complexes have been rated from 1-5 stars, with 26,641 rooms.

In order to attract more tourists, the city has introduced several tourism products, such as the “South Thang Long Heritage Road – Hanoi” tourism route, the Mien village community tourism destination in Ba Vi district, and the Hanoi - Ha Nam - Ninh Binh spiritual cultural tourism route, among others.

Hanoi has affirmed its position as a major tourism hub of the country while popularising its image and tourism brand both in the region and the world.

International organisations, experts, and tourism service providers have continued to nominate and honour Hanoi at prestigious, regional and international awards such as Asia’s Leading City Break Destination 2024 and Asia's Leading City Destination 2024.

The world's leading online travel platform Tripadvisor has honoured Hanoi in the category of the Best Food Destination in the World 2024./.
