Hanoi (VNA) – The Hanoi Department of Tourism has organised a discussion on the implementation of promotion programmes by local hotels and communications activities to promote the tourism stimulation scheme themed "Hanoians and Tourists Experience Four- and Five-Star Hotel Services in Hanoi", aiming to attract more domestic tourists to the capital city.
The programme, part of the activities of the city’s larger programme to stimulate domestic tourism and promote local destinations in 2024, is expected to enhance the image of local hotels and resorts, while increasing the room occupancy rate at 4-5 star hotels in the capital.
It is hoped to help the city attract 27 million visitors in 2024, up 9.2% on year. The figures include 5.5 million international visits with 3.8 million stays, up 16.4%. Total revenue from tourists is expected to reach about 103.74 VND (4.2 million USD), up 11.1% from 2023, while the average room occupancy rate of accommodation establishments will rise to 62%, an increase of three percentage points from the 2023 benchmark.
The programme is in line with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's "Vietnamese travel to Vietnam - Vietnam I love it" campaign to encourage domestic visitors to travel within the country.
In respond to the programme, during the meeting, representatives of hotels and media agencies have proposed many solutions to further promote the image, brands, and services of hotels in the capital, which will help boost the occupancy rate of lodging facilities in the coming period, especially during off-peak periods.
To date, four- and five-star hotels in the city have offered product packages in response to the latter programme, ranging from preferential rates, room - meal/drink/tea party - gala combo, room - seminar - transportation, meal/drink - pool combo, to service discount vouchers, such as Hotel de l'Opera Hanoi's "Summer Indulgence Staycation", Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi's "City Vacation" and "Luxury Afternoon Tea", Movenpick Living West Hanoi's "Happy Summer Vacation", and others.
According to a JW Marriott Hotel Hanoi representative, with the strength of a hotel surrounded by green space and a lake, right from the beginning of summer, the hotel has developed vacation packages for families in Hanoi in particular and the whole country in general.
It has designed vacation packages that combine pool and spa experiences for parents with playgrounds for children. In particular, it has blended traditional and modern games so that tourists, especially foreigners, have an opportunity to experience and explore the Vietnamese culture.
Meanwhile, a representative from Grand Vista said that it has been running short-term combo packages because Hanoi people often go on vacations on weekends with short-term stays, usually one night.
Other hotels such as Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi, Fortuna, Novotel, Hanoi, Glory resort, Movenpick, Lotte, A25, and Grand Mercue also introduced many attractive products and services at reasonable prices.
Representatives of hotels in the city expressed their wonder how to ensure that information of their service packages reaches customers in Hanoi in particular and Vietnam in general.
They proposed that the city Department of Tourism support them in connecting with destinations and travel firms to build tours that include accommodation and meal services as well as city tours and night tours in Hanoi at a reasonable price.
Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Tourism Nguyen Hong Minh affirmed that the department will accompany hotels and connect them with travel firms and media agencies to launch a communications campaign from July 1.He asked the hotels to coordinate with the Hanoi Tourist Corporation to design quality package tours to attract tourists, while cooperating with the department in the joint communication campaign./.
