Hanoi youths expand ties with Indochinese peers

The Hanoi chapter of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union has officially set up cooperative ties with its Phnom Penh counterpart during its June 9-15 working trip to neighbouring countries.

TheHanoi and Phnom Penh young people agreed to exchange visits annuallyalong with conducting cultural exchanges, cadre training assistance,coordination in educating traditions for young people, and forgingentrepreneurial linkages.

While in Phnom Penh, Hanoi youths laidflowers at the Memorial Monument to Vietnamese volunteers fallen inCambodia and also visited the Toul Sleng prison where the Pol Pot regimetortured and killed tens of thousands of Cambodian civilians.

InLaos, Hanoi young people and their Vientiane peers discussed futurecooperative activities, including the building of a website andorganisation of Vietnamese language courses for the Vientiane YouthUnion.

Hanoi youths pledged to continue maintaining annual visitsand organising voluntary teams to Laos, and training Lao youth unionofficials.

The two sides affirmed that youth cooperation of thetwo capital cities is important to the two countries’ youth relations aswell as bilateral ties./.

Phuc Son Group Chairman sentenced to 30 years in prison in major corruption trial

Nguyen Van Hau, Chairman and CEO of Phuc Son Group, was charged with giving bribes and violating bidding and accounting regulations, causing serious consequences. He received a combined jail sentence of 30 years - 14 years for bribery, nine years for the bidding violation, and seven years for accounting irregularities.
