HCM City association to work harder to boost Vietnam-China ties

The Vietnam-China Friendship Association of Ho Chi Minh City will better bring into play its role in people-to-people diplomacy so as to help enhance the two countries’ relations, delegates said at its second congress on December 28.

HCM City (VNA) – The Vietnam-China FriendshipAssociation of Ho Chi Minh City will better bring into play its role inpeople-to-people diplomacy so as to help enhance the two countries’ relations,delegates said at its second congress on December 28.

At the congress, the association selected an executiveboard for the 2017-2022 tenure consisting of 27 members. Duong Quan Ha wasre-elected Chairman of the association for the next five years.

Delegates said the association will work harderto help reinforce cooperation, friendship and mutual understanding between thetwo countries’ people, thereby contributing to the implementation of the Partyand State’s foreign policy.

It will also devise fundraising plans tomobilise funding for friendship, charity and social activities, while steppingup popularising the Vietnam – China traditional friendship through diverseactivities like workshops, discussions, film screening, exhibitions, exchanges,and business-to-business events.

Vice Chairman of the association Tran KhangChien said the organisation has continually developed over the past years. Itnow comprises 10 chapters and has friendship relations with the Chinese ConsulateGeneral in HCM City and many partners in some provinces and cities of China.

Mutual visits and meetings between theassociation and friendship organisations of Chinese localities have greatlyhelp to promote amity and mutual understanding between people of HCM City andChina, he added.-VNA
