City and Vietnam to people all around the world.
Chairman Le Hoang Quan hosted a banquet in the city on April 30 in honour of international friends of Vietnam , who came to attend the city’s celebration of the 35th anniversary of Liberation of Southern Vietnam.
He affirmed that “ HCM City will do its utmost to live up to the noble friendship offered by international friends and wishes to continue receiving their support and assistance for its construction and development cause.”
The municipal leader emphasized that the Great Victory in 1975 reflected the strength of the nation’s great unity and its determination to defeat the aggressors and reunify the nation.
The triumph also saw significant contributions and support from lovers of peace and justice around the world, Quan said, adding that the Vietnamese people will always be grateful and keep in mind the faithful friendship these international friends have extended to Vietnam and its liberation cause to gain freedom and independence for the nation and build the country.
Present at the banquet were Lao Deputy Prime Minister Asang Laoly, Cambodian Standing Deputy Prime Minister Men Sam An, Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee, Olga Lidia Iglesisas, Senior Lieutenant General of Russia Khyupennen Anatoly, former Japanese Prime Minister Tomichi Maradama, and Secretary General of the Britain-Vietnam Friendship Society Len Aldis, among others.
Khyupennen Anatoly and Len Aldis, on behalf of others, said they looked forward to see the Vietnamese people gain even greater achievements in their national development.
Len Aldis strongly affirmed that he and other international friends will continue with the fight for justice for Vietnamese victims of Agent Orange sprayed by the US troops during the Vietnam war.
He said the fight for justice will is not over, as up to 4 million Vietnamese Agent Orange victims and their families have yet to receive adequate compensation from those who caused the AO plight./.
