HCM City (VNA) – Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Phan Van Maimet a visiting delegation of the German city of Frankfurt led by Mayor PeterFeldmann on July 4.

Mai said HCM City views Frankfurt as one of the key foreign localities in itsexternal relations.

He noted as there remainsmuch potential for bilateral cooperation, the two sides should step uppartnerships in trade, investment, information technology, science,environmental protection, and tourism.

Meanwhile, Feldmann expressed his hope that in the timeahead, the two cities will further intensify exiting relations and expand cooperationto the areas matching HCM City’s interest and Frankfurt’s strength such asinformation technology, education, and environmental protection.

During theirworking trip, the Frankfurt delegation willattend the opening ceremony of the city’s representative office in HCM City andan international automotive industry exhibition. They will also visit someGerman enterprises operating in the southern economic hub of Vietnam./.

Vietnam, Laos strengthen border defence friendship

At Border Marker No. 460, the two defence ministers jointly took part in the traditional ceremony of repainting the marker. Beyond its symbolic significance, the ceremony reflected the determination of the two Parties, States and armed forces to safeguard every marker of national sovereignty, preserve the achievements of border demarcation and marker planting, and develop the Vietnam–Laos border into a symbol of peace, stability, cooperation and development.
