The statement was made by Vice Chairman ofthe municipal People’s Council Pham Duc Hai at a ceremony to mark King's Day(Koningsdag) of the Netherlands (April 27), held by the country’s ConsulateGeneral in the city on April 25.
Congratulating the country on its nationalday, Hai expressed his delight at strong development in the two nations’relations, which was lifted to a comprehensive partnership level in earlierthis month.
He stressed that his city is one of thelocalities leading the country in carrying out cooperation activities with theNetherlands.
Two-way trade hit 1.5 billion USD lastyear. The Netherlands is running 135 investment projects totalling 1.8 billionUSD, ranking 8th out of 105 nations and territories pouring capital into thecity. The two sides have also signed collaboration agreements in floodingprevention, water management, climate change response, urban planning and hightechnology.
Dutch Consul General Carel Richter alsoshowed his delight at growing Netherlands-Vietnam relations.
He stated that the Netherlands is currentlyVietnam’s second largest trade partner and its biggest investor in Europe witha total registered investment of over 7 billion USD.
The Netherlands considers Vietnam as one ofits 10 leading economic partners, he added.-VNA
