HCM City invited to Association of NE Asia Regional Governments

Secretary General of the Association of North East Asia Regional Governments (NEAR) Hong Jong-kyoung has invited Ho Chi Minh City to be an associate member of the NEAR.

HCM City (VNA) – Secretary Generalof the Association of North East Asia Regional Governments (NEAR) Hong Jong-kyounginvited Ho Chi Minh City to be an associate member of the NEAR while beingreceived by Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Le Thanh Liem onJuly 26.

Associate members have all rights fullmembers do, bar the right to vote and the responsibility to pay annualmembership fees, he said.

He expressed his hope that by participatingin the NEAR, Ho Chi Minh City will have more opportunities to promote itspotential to Northeast Asian localities and intensify international cooperationthrough NEAR forums and activities, especially trade and tourism promotionprogrammes.

Liem stressed that Ho Chi Minh City valuesinternational organisations and associations, considering them an effectivechannel for international cooperation.

He pledged to assign relevant offices tostudy this invitation and reply to the association soon.

NEAR is an international organisationfounded by 29 regional governments from four Northeast Asian countries,including China, Japan, the Republic of Korea (RoK) and Russian in September1996 in Gyeongsangbuk-do province, the RoK.

It has grown into a local diplomacy andcooperation organisation representing Northeast Asia with 77 member regionalgovernments from six countries.-VNA

Vietnam, China step up theoretical exchanges, share Party-building experience

During his working visit to China, Nguyen Xuan Thang, member of the 13th Party Central Committee's Political Bureau and Chairman of the Central Theory Council, had a meeting with Li Shulei, Politburo member, Secretary of the CPC Central Committee’s Secretariat, and Head of the CPC Central Committee’s Publicity Department, during which the two sides held in-depth discussions on theoretical research, practical reviews and Party building, and agreed to further strengthen cooperation and experience sharing between the two Parties.

Vietnam, Russia seek stronger cooperation in policy research, training

NA President concludes official visit to Republic of Korea

During his stay, NA President Man held a meeting with Prime Minister Han Seong Sook and talks with NA Speaker Cho Jeong Sik.
