Illustrative image (Source: VNA) HCM City (VNA) — Ho Chi Minh City starts issuing new identity cards to all local citizens from December 7.
Previously, under a pilot programme, the city had issued new ID cards to inhabitants in its five districts.
The 12-digit ID cards provide each citizen with a unique identification number, replacing the current 9-digit cards.
The Government aims to provide new cards throughout the country by 2020.-VNA
