Hai thanked the Myanmar Government and relevant agencies for assistingHCM City businesses and investors to learn about investmentopportunities in Myanmar .

In the past, the citydispatched delegations of leaders to Myanmar . At the same time, itis making it easier for local firms to seek cooperation chances in thecity. In March 2012, HCM City and Myanmar ’s Yangon Citysigned a twinning agreement, he noted.

Nyan Tunsaid the signing of the twinning agreement will offer the two cities achance to bolster new cooperation. He expressed his belief that thebilateral cooperation will keep thriving comprehensively through theexchange of visits by the two countries’ leaders.

He said Myanmar wishes to strengthen economic development. Lastyear, the country issued a new law to lure foreign investment, thusoffering chances for foreign investors, including those from Vietnam .

At a meeting with the municipal People’s CommitteeChairman Le Hoang Quan earlier, Nyan Tun said Myanmar wishes to learnHCM City ’s experience in improving locals’ lives, especiallythose living in rural areas.

Quan said the city is willing to share experience with Myanmar in poverty reduction.

During his stay in the city, Nyan Tun visited Cu Chi relic site, HCMCity hi-tech park and Amata industrial complex in southern Dong Naiprovince.-VNA

Vietnam proposes key priorities for advancing gender equality

Sharing Vietnam’s achievements, Thanh noted that women account for nearly one-third of Vietnam’s National Assembly members; 40% of Vietnam’s STEM workforce is female; 26.5% of businesses in the country are owned by women; women account for 68.5% of the country’s labour force, surpassing the global average of 48.7% and 14.4% of Vietnam’s peacekeepers are women, higher than the UN average of 10.2%.
