HCM City plans to build a new bridge to connect the two new urban areas of Thu Thiem and Saigon South.

Thecity's Department of Traffic and Transportation recently asked thecity's People's Committee for permission to allow the investor to studythe construction of the Thu Thiem 4 Bridge to connect Districts 2 and 7of the city.

The location and scale of the new bridge and investment funds are being discussed.

The key project of constructing the bridge across the River Saigon is part of efforts to develop the city by 2020.

Fivebridges and a tunnel will connect the Thu Thiem urban area in theDistrict 2 with other regions of the city. The Thu Thiem 1 Bridge andthe tunnel across the River Saigon have been operational since 2010 and2011 respectively.

Early this year, work also started on the1.5km-long Thu Thiem 2 Bridge. This bridge is expected to becomeoperational in 2018.-VNA

“I love my fatherland” journey 2026 launched

The “I Love My Fatherland” journey will comprise seven stages linked to historical, cultural and revolutionary sites across the country. The journey will begin in Nghe An on May 16 to mark President Ho Chi Minh’s birthday, before continuing through Hue city, Tuyen Quang–Lung Cu Flag Tower, Dien Bien, Khanh Hoa, Ca Mau and Ho Chi Minh City, and concluding in Hanoi in October.
