Hanoi (VNA) –
A high-level delegationof the Lao People’s Army (LPA) led by Lieutenant General Thongloi Silivong,Deputy Minister of National Defence and head of the LPA’s General Department ofPolitics, visited Vietnam’s Military Zone 9 High Command on March 20.

Major General Huynh Chien Thang, Secretary ofthe Party Committee and Political Commissar of the Military Zone 9, detailedsome missions of the zone’s armed forces such as training, increasing thefighting capacity to defend the country, helping reduce poverty, build newrural areas, address consequences of natural disasters and diseases, and joinsearch and rescue efforts.

In 2017, the Military Zone 9 High Command senttwo delegations for exchanges with Lao units to celebrate the Vietnam-LaosFriendship, Solidarity Year.

Thongloi Silivong congratulated the zone on itsachievements in building forces, training and safeguarding national sovereigntyin the southernmost region of Vietnam.

He expressed his wish to increase cooperationwith the zone in the future.-VNA

Party official, JICA President discuss expanding leadership training cooperation

Vietnam suggested JICA continue implementing a leadership capacity-building project for 2026–2028, aligned with Vietnam’s development priorities and four new pillars of bilateral cooperation - AI, digital transformation, smart cities and high-tech infrastructure; high-quality human resource development and institutional reform; green and circular economy development and disaster prevention; and social welfare, health care, elderly care and private-sector development.
