- Former leaders of the Party and State contributed opinions to draft documents for the upcoming 14th National Party Congress at a conference organised by the Party Central Committee (PCC)’s Politburo and Secretariat in Hanoi on November 6.

- State President Luong Cuong will lead a high-ranking delegation of Vietnam to pay an official visit to Chile from November 9 – 12; pay an official visit to Peru and attend the 2024 APEC Economic Leaders’ Week in Lima from November 12 – 16.

The visits will be made at the invitations of Chilean President Gabriel Boric Font and Peruvian President Dina Ercilia Boluarte Zegarra, respectively, according to an announcement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.Read full story

At the events, taking place as part of his trip to attend the 8th Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Summit and bilateral activities in China, PM Chinh noted that the friendly neighbourliness, comradeship and fraternity between Vietnam and China are developing fruitfully, providing an important cornerstone for their enterprises to enhance connections. - The Party and Government of Vietnam always value and support Vietnamese localities in strengthening cooperation with their Chinese peers, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh told Chairman of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Lan Tianli in Kunming, Yunnan, on November 6.

At the meeting held as part of the PM’s attendance at the eighth Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Summit and working trip to China, Chinh noted that Guangxi is where Vietnamese President Ho Chi Minh conducted revolutionary activities for the longest period, and highlighted the support and assistance shared by the Chinese locality and Vietnam during the sides’ respective national liberation and development causes. - Ngo Phuong Ly, spouse of Vietnam’s Party General Secretary To Lam, attended the 9th ASEAN Traditional Textile Symposium in Laos from November 3-6 at the invitation of Naly Sisoulith, spouse of the Lao Party General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith.

Themed “Weaving a stronger ASEAN community through cultural heritage and textiles”, the biennial event, hosted by Laos for the first time, brought together businesses and representatives from ASEAN textile associations. Read full story

- A Vietnamese delegation led by Rear Admiral Pham Nhu Xuan, Deputy Commander of the Vietnam People’s Navy, is taking part in the 29th international naval defence exhibition Euronaval, held at the Paris Nord Villepinte exhibition centre in the suburbs of Paris on November 4-7.

The Vietnamese delegation visited areas displaying new equipment, technologies, and weapons of some major defence industry businesses of France such as Thales, Naval, and LaCroix. Read full story

- Authorities have established contact with both of the two pilots involved in a military aircraft crash, which occurred during a training flight over Tay Xuan commune in the south central province of Quang Binh’s Tay Son district on November 6.

According to the Ministry of National Defence, at around 6:45 p.m., rescue teams received information via a mobile phone of Colonel Nguyen Van Son, Commander of Air Force Regiment 940. Read full story

- With a comeback win of 3-2 against Thailand on November 6, Vietnam secured the first place of Group A at the ASEAN Futsal Championship 2024 and will face Australia in the semifinals.

- Hanoi lured over 5.1 million tourists in the first ten months of this year, an increase of 28.5% over the same period last year.

Resolution opens up development space, creates new momentum for regional growth

Resolution No. 27 on regional development and the organisation of national development space in the new period places regional development as a means of organising national growth and a tool for reorganising development space, allocating resources and enhancing competitiveness. This takes on particular significance following the restructuring of administrative units, as the expanded scale of many localities creates better conditions for integrating urban, industrial, agricultural, maritime, border-gate and logistics spaces.

Vietnamese NA President experiences Mongolian traditional culture

NA President Man, his spouse and the Vietnamese delegation attended a mini Naadam Festival, which recreated Mongolia's largest and oldest traditional festival and a source of pride for the Mongolian people. The Naadam Festival was inscribed by UNESCO on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Vietnam, France seek to deepen defence cooperation

Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence General Phan Van Giang said Vietnam-France defence ties have continued to grow, with cooperation expanding in various areas, including high-level delegation exchanges; the deputy-minister-level strategic dialogue and defence cooperation mechanism; military medicine; education and training; search and rescue; UN peacekeeping operations; maritime cooperation; and defence industry.

Top Vietnamese leader meets with French Prime Minister

The two leaders agreed to actively exchange all-level delegations, soon establish new cooperation mechanisms commensurate with the level of bilateral ties, and effectively implement the Vietnam-France Action Plan for 2026-2028. They concurred to continue strengthening cooperation in defence and security, United Nations peacekeeping operations, and in preventing and combating organised transnational crime, among other areas.
