- Party General Secretary To Lam has freshly penned an article on building an elite, streamlined, strong, efficient, valid and effective political system.

The article published on November 5 stressed that at every revolutionary stage, the Party and State have consistently placed importance on enhancing the leadership, governance, and combat capacity of the Party, and on strengthening the efficiency, validity, and effectiveness of the political system. This is one of the pivotal elements that have enabled the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) to become a great helmsman and a visionary captain skillfully steering the ship of the Vietnamese revolution through challenges to achieve victory after victory, the Party leader wrote. - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on November 5 met representatives of the Vietnamese Consulate General in Kunming city, China’s Yunnan province, and the Vietnamese community there.

The meeting took place as part of his ongoing trip to China to attend the eighth Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Summit, the 10th Ayeyawady - Chao Phraya - Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS) Summit, and the 11th Cambodia-Laos-Myanmar-Vietnam Cooperation Summit, and hold bilateral activities in the neighbouring country. - The General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) opened a training course on trade union affairs for officers of the Lao People’s Army (LPA) in Hanoi on November 5.

In his opening remarks, Colonel Nguyen Dinh Duc, who is in charge of the trade union affairs division at the General Department of Politics, highlighted that with the close and loyal relationship between the two countries, trade union cadres and members of the two armies have long upheld and promoted the traditions of their nations and militaries. - The Trinity Forum 2024, the world's premier airport retail trade forum, kicked off in Ho Chi Minh City on November 5 under the theme “Driving Innovation to Stay Relevant in a Rapidly Changing Consumer Landscape”.

Co-hosted by the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) and Imex Pan Pacific Group (IPPG), the two-day event is set to propel the aviation, tourism, and retail sectors to new heights. - An exhibition on cultural and natural heritage, and traditional handicraft products will be held from November 22-26 in Vinh city, the central province of Nghe An, according to the Vietnam Culture and Art Exhibition Centre.

The event, to be jointly organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the provincial People’s Committee, is part of activities to celebrate the Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day (November 23) and to mark the 10th anniversary of Vi-Giam folk singing being recognised by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity. - The Vietnam Fine Arts Museum is about to receive a painting titled “Hillsides in Deli Ibrahim (Algiers)” by Ham Nghi, an exiled Vietnamese king, on November 12.

Ham Nghi (1871-1944), personal name Nguyen Phuc Minh, came to the throne in 1884 and was the 8th king of the Nguyen Dynasty (1802-1945). After the Imperial City of Hue was lost in 1885, he left the capital and issued the “Can Vuong” (aid the king) edict, calling for patriots to rise up to regain independence and freedom. He was detained by the French colonialists in 1888 and exiled in Algiers, the capital of Algeria, the following year. Read full story./.
