Ho Chi Minh City, Japan boost economic ties

People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong has expressed his wish that the Japanese
Business Association in HCM City (JBAH) would further uphold its role in
connecting the municipal authorities with Japanese investors.
During a reception in the city on May 14 for new JBAH President Okada Hideyuki, Phong said HCM City’s leaders always appreciate feedback from domestic and foreign enterprises, including Japanese firms operating in the city, in order to improve the business environment.
He asked Hideyuki to comprehensively identify difficulties regarding taxation and social insurance faced by Japanese firms operating in the city so that relevant authorities can discuss them in the upcoming round-table conference.
Phong hoped that JBAH would introduce prestigious investors to the city in fields of its interest such as manufacturing and processing, as well as that Japan and Ho Chi Minh City will actively partner in economy, trade, and investment, including building more impressive works in the city.
Hideyuki, for his part, said JBAH now has 1,025 member companies. He lauded the city’s efforts to hold the annual round-table conference to listen to Japanese firms’ feedback to improve the local business climate.
He affirmed that the Japanese enterprises operating in the city are ready to partner with the municipal authorities in the efforts, adding that JBAH’s leaders want to establish more business liaison boards to improve the efficiency of bilateral economic, trade, and investment ties.–VNA
