Hanoi (VNA) – In the first quarter the central province of Thua Thien - Hue reported tourism earnings of 737 billion VND (33.5 million USD), an increase of 8 percent year-on-year.

There were 731,000 visitors to Hue City, the province’s main attraction, including 280,000 from abroad, during the period.

Around 440,000 tourists stayed in the city for several days, or 3 percent higher that the same period last year.

Some 12,000 visitors arrived by sea.

This year the province’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism is running a campaign to improve the quality of tourist services, expand links with neighbouring localities and offer promotions to attract more visitors.-VNA
