Phu Yen (VNA) – Hungary will help Phu Yen exploit the full potential of its hot springs to improve the lives of local people and develop tourism, thereby spreading the image of Vietnam across the world.

Hungarian Ambassador to Vietnam Ori Casba made the statement at an international seminar held in Tuy Hoa city, in the south central coastal province of Phu Yen, on October 17.

Phu Yen province has five hot springs, three of which were previously examined by the French – namely Phu Sen of Phu Hoa district, and Triem Duc and Phuoc Long of Dong Xuan district – and two newly-discovered others in Lac Sanh of Tay Hoa district, and Ea Rieng of Song Hinh district.

Several areas contain mineral waters with temperatures of up to 70 degrees Celsius, meeting physical and chemical standards. They are described as holding huge potential to serve tourism development, heath care, and drinking water supplies.

Mai Kim Loc, Deputy Director of the Phu Yen Natural Resources and Environment Department, said the hot springs are open air with the water flowing over the rocks.

So far, the department has only granted an operation licence to the Phu Sen hot springs, as the others remain untouched and in need of investment, Loc added.

Mihaly Krampek from the Hungarian thermal bath association highlighted the exploitation of hot springs for medicinal purposes, saying that in Hungary, for example, the service is a central feature attracting tourists from all over the world, with up to 2.2 million out of the 3.6 million tourists to Budapest visiting the various mineral bathing sites.

According to Krampek, Phu Yen will attract more tourists if the province can offer such services well.

Ambassador Casba affirmed that he will encourage Hungarian companies to survey and invest in related projects in Phu Yen. –VNA
