The Ministry of Information and Communication (MIC) launched a campaign to raise funds for residents and soldiers in the Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago in Hanoi on April 22.
Themed “The MIC towards beloved islands”, the launch event participants included personnel and staff from the ministry and other relevant agencies.
The campaign’s launch ceremony raised a total of 4.1 billion VND (190,000 USD).
From April 19-28, the MIC, in collaboration with the High Command of the Navy, is organising a number of practical activities including exhibitions and presentations of historical documents and maps affirming Vietnam’s sovereignty over Truong Sa , establishing two post offices on Truong Sa and Sinh Ton islands, and implementing programmes to aid soldiers and officials working in the Truong Sa archipelago and the DK 1 oil rig.-VNA
