New Delhi (VNA) – President of the India–Vietnam Solidarity Committee Kusum Jain has expressed her pleasure and strong impression at the fact that the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam concluded earlier than scheduled, reflecting a spirit of urgency, efficiency and a high degree of consensus.
This outcome clearly demonstrated the unity and determination of the Party in addressing key issues facing Vietnam at a critical juncture of its development, she told the Vietnam News Agency’s correspondent in New Delhi, noting that the continued election of General Secretary To Lam to lead the Party in the new term carries important significance not only for Vietnam but also for the international community, including India.
Kusum Jain spoke highly of the development goals and orientations adopted by the Congress, particularly the target of achieving an average economic growth rate of around 10% during the 2026–2030 period, in association with a green growth model, innovation and digital transformation. She said these objectives reflect Vietnam’s strong determination to pursue sustainable and inclusive development in line with global trends.
She appreciated the closing speech delivered by General Secretary To Lam, highlighting that his vision of guiding Vietnam towards becoming an upper-middle-income country by 2030 and a high-income country by 2045 conveyed a sense of optimism and confidence and stressed the nation’s commitment to maintain peace and stability.
Regarding bilateral relations, the President of the India–Vietnam Solidarity Committee expressed confidence that despite ongoing global geopolitical fluctuations, the India–Vietnam Comprehensive Strategic Partnership will continue to develop strongly in a peaceful and stable environment in both countries. She stressed that the bilateral relationship is grounded in deep historical ties and brings tangible benefits to both sides, while still holding considerable potential for further elevation in the years ahead.
Reflecting on the role of her committee, she recalled that the organisation was established in the late 1960s to express solidarity with the Vietnamese people during their struggle for national independence. The ideology and vision of President Ho Chi Minh, she said, have remained a constant source of inspiration for the committee’s activities over the decades.
Kusum Jain noted that while soft diplomacy activities between India and Vietnam have already laid a solid foundation, there remains ample room for expansion, particularly in literature, culture, trade and business. With its dedicated members and deep affection for Vietnam, the committee will continue to contribute meaningfully to enhancing mutual understanding and strengthening the enduring friendship between the two countries, she affirmed./.
