Hanoi (VNA) – Indonesian authorities have played down an Australian warning on possible terror attacks being planned in the Southeast Asian country.

The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) on February 25 issued a warning on travelling, saying that “recent indications suggest that terrorists may be in the advanced stages of preparing attacks in Indonesia ".

Responding to the warning, Indonesian police Brigadier General Agus Rianto asserted that Indonesia remained a safe country. The country's police and military have continued working together to maintain security across the nation.

He added that the national police force still took the warning seriously.

Meanwhile, Indonesian Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung said the government has worked out strategies to deal with any possible terror attacks.

He added that police and military have strengthened security across the nation, especially at airports and seaports.

Indonesia has been cracking down on suspected militants since the terror attack in the country's capital city of Jakarta last month, killing eight people, four of whom were attackers.

The self-claimed Islamic State (IS) claimed responsibility for the attack.-VNA
