Jakarta (VNA) – Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI) Perry Warjiyo has forecast that the country’s value of e-commerce will grow by up to 48.4 percent this year.
He said digital economic transactions grew very high, supported by easy payment system services as well as changes in the people's preferences for shopping and conducting online transactions amid COVID-19 pandemic.
Addressing the third West Java Investment Summit 2021 held on October 21, Perry said digital payment and digital banking could grow by 35.7 percent and 30.1 percent, respectively.
He pledged to continue supporting the digitalisation of financial system by promoting Quick Response Indonesia Standard (QRIS) with cooperation of banks. As many as 11.4 million merchants are using the system.
BI will also work with the Thai Government to incorporate QRIS with Thailand’s similar system to facilitate bilateral trade, he said./.
Indonesia, China begin feasibility study on 560 mln USD coal-to-methanol plant
Indonesia and China have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to conduct a feasibility study of a 560-million-US dollar coal-to-methanol plant, according to a press release from Indonesia's Industry Ministry.
