Jakarta (VNA) – Indonesia accounts for around 40%, or 77 billion USD, of the total digital economic transaction value in Southeast Asia, the Financial Services Authority (OJK) has cited the e-Conomy South East Asia Report of 2022 as saying.
The value of these transactions in Indonesia in 2022 grew 22% compared to the previous year, OJK chief executive Ogi Prastomiyono said on March 16.
This achievement has made the country a significant digital economy player in the ASEAN region, he added.
According to Prastomiyono, one of the factors supporting the growth of the Indonesian digital economy has been the number of financial technology companies (fintech) capable of creating efficiencies and more accessible financial services.
As of January, there were 102 fintech companies connecting borrowers and lenders or offering peer-to-peer lending (P2P)./.
