The event was jointlyorganised by the Indonesian Professors Association (API) and theMalaysian Professors Association (MPN).
Speaking at theforum, Professor Ari Purbayanto from Indonesia’s Bogor Institute ofAgriculture said that farming plays an important role in development ofthe two countries because both sides are developing their agriculturaleconomies.
He noted that they are now facing many challengesconcerning food security and food provision capacity, a state of affairsthat led to the forum, named "Food Sovereignty in Indonesia andMalaysia".
During the three-day event, participants agree onexchanges of scientists, lecturers, researchers and students between thetwo nations, and pledge to work closely together to carry out researchprogrammes on climate change, technology renovation and socio-economicissues.
They also discussed other important subjects such assustainable development, energy, environment, health, manpower,economics, politics and education.-VNA
