Indonesia and the Netherlands will join hands in a three-year fisheries and aquaculture project, starting from 2014.

Indonesian Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Sharif Cicip Sutardjo, said that the “Project for Fisheries and Aquaculture for Food Security” is valued at 6.21 million USD.

It will be managed by the Netherlands-based Wageningen University and Research Centre, he added.

The project’s objective is to reduce harmful fishing practices and improve the quality and standards of fishing in local ports.-VNA
