Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – Malaysia will continue strengthening cooperation with other ASEAN member states to promote a semiconductor supply chain in the region.

According to Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry Liew Chin Tong, this is part of Malaysia’s agenda as the country assumes the ASEAN Chairmanship in 2025.

Liew noted that the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) is finalising the AEC Strategic Plan 2026-2030, which is set to be launched in May in conjunction with the 46th ASEAN Summit and related meetings.

This AEC Strategic Plan is expected to be launched alongside the ASEAN Community Vision 2045, providing a foundation for the region’s sustainable development.

As the 2025 ASEAN chair, it is important for Malaysia to take a proactive and progressive role in driving ASEAN’s agenda towards realising the AEC Strategic Plan in 2025, he added.

Additionally, this year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the ASEAN Community, so Malaysia will actively speed up the adoption of the ASEAN Community Vision 2045, which outlines strategic priorities for the bloc in the next 20 years./.
