Addressingthe 52nd session of the United Nations Human Rights Council held inGeneva, Switzerland, on February 27, Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs RetnoMarsudi stressed that the 75th anniversary of theUniversal Declaration of Human Rights must be a momentum to strengthen thecommitment to upholding human rights.
Shesuggested three things that need to be the focus of cooperation to strengthenhuman rights, which are taking real action for humanity, increasing efforts to prevent humanrights violations and strengthening human rights architecture.
AsASEAN Chair, Indonesia will strengthen the mandate of the ASEAN Human RightsCommission, the ASEAN Commission for the Protection of Women and Children, andinstitutionalise regional huhuman rights dialogue, she said.
Shealso reiterated Indonesia's candidacy as a member of the UN Human RightsCouncil for the 2024-2026 period.
The 52nd session of the UNHRC is scheduled to last till early April with the attendance of over 100leaders and officials from countries./.
