(Photo: Reuters) Jakarta (VNA) – The Asian Games 2018 Organising Committee or INASGOC said that three security zones will be established for the upcoming Asian Games (ASIAD) to prevent vandalism and terrorism which previously occurred at the Main Stadium of the Gelora Bung Karno Sports Complex in Senayan, Jakarta.
According to INASGOC Chairman Erick Thohir, to strengthen security during the event, only two doors at the sport complex will open, one for accredited individuals and one for ticket holders, and there will be three security zones.
The first security checkpoint is the area where people will be searched before entering any of the venues, including Gelora Bung Karno in Senayan, Jakarta and Jakabaring in Palembang, South Sumatra. They are not allowed to carry anything except their tickets.
INASGOC staff will check the spectators’ tickets in the second zone and finally, tickets will be checked again to ensure the seat number in the last zone at the entrance to the arena.
The organising board said cars are banned from entering Gelora Bung Karno stadium during the opening and closing ceremonies. Important guests will have to use buses to enter the area.
Along with the Gelora Bung Karno and Jakabaring venues, similar security measures will be applied in other sport venues.
The Games will also create an opportunity for the country to improve traffic culture in sport events, including the use of public transport, queuing habits and maintaining order in public areas.-VNA
