Indonesian Ambassador honoured with peace–friendship insignia

Hanoi (VNA) - Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga, President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO), presented the “For peace and friendship among nations” insignia to outgoing Indonesian Ambassador to Vietnam Ibnu Hadi at a ceremony in Hanoi on November 24.

The insignia was in recognition of the ambassador’s contributions to strengthening and strengthening the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries.

Speaking at the ceremony, Nga said during the ambassador’s three-year tenure in Vietnam, the Vietnam – Indonesia ties have seen significant development across multiple fields such as politics, diplomacy, economy, culture and sports.
She said the ambassador has worked closely with the VUFO, the Vietnam – Indonesia Friendship Association, and other Vietnamese competent agencies to organise a host of friendship activities.

He was also active in promoting trade and economic relations between Vietnamese firms and their Indonesian peers and in implementing humanitarian projects in many Vietnamese provinces and cities, Nga said.

For his part, Ibnu Hadi emphasised his honour to receive the award, saying his last year serving in the country marks Vietnam’s ASEAN chairmanship and the 65th anniversary of the two nations’ diplomatic relations.

He hailed Vietnam’s ASEAN chair role despite COVID-19 and expressed his belief in Vietnam – Indonesia economic ties. When the two economies recover from the pandemic, they will look to push their bilateral trade to 10 billion USD, the diplomat added.

The two-way trade reached 5.73 billion USD in the first nine months of this year.

Ibnu Hadi pledged to make further contribution to the friendship and collaboration between the two peoples in any posts he is going to take in the future./.
