Indonesian gov’t continues to pay for COVID-19 vaccine, treatment (Photo:jakartaglobe.id) Jakarta (VNA) – The Indonesian government will continue to pay for COVID-19 vaccination and treatment, spokesperson for the country’s COVID-19task force, Wiku Adisasmitos announced on June 22.
The statement came a day after Indonesia declared anend to the pandemic status for COVID-19 after most Indonesians had developedantibodies against the virus.
Government data shows 86.87% of the targeted 234.6 million people have got their first COVID-19 dose, and about 74.54 % have received their second dose.
The vaccination rate for the third dose stood at38.01%, and Indonesia still needs to work on this, Wiku said.
Indonesia'smedical experts have also urged people to take care of their own health as wellas those around them, reiterating the government's recommendation to use masksif they feel unwell, or pose any chance of spreading COVID-19 through coughingor sneezing.
On June 21, Indonesia's state health insurancecompany BPJS Kesehatan announced that it will continue to pay treatment costsfor National Health Insurance (JKN) participants infected with COVID-19./.
