Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on April 23 started a two-day state visit to Myanmar, at the invitation of Myanmar President U Thein Sein.
Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on April 23 started atwo-day state visit to Myanmar, at the invitation of MyanmarPresident U Thein Sein.

During Yudhoyono’s visit,the two leaders will hold talks on promoting the two countries’bilateral ties and economic cooperation.

They will also endorse several agreements on trade cooperation, human resource development and investment.

In 2012, two-way trade between Myanmar and Indonesia reached391.08 million USD. Of which, Myanmar’s exports to Indonesiatotalled 40.37 million USD.

Indonesian investment inMyanmar amounted to 241.5 million USD as of February, 2013, rankingit 14th in the country’s foreign investor list.

It is also Myanmar’s fourth largest trading partner in ASEAN after Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia.

The two countries have set a target to lift bilateral trade to one billion USD in 2016.

Earlier, in May, 2011, Thein Sein's Jakarta visit marked his firstoverseas trip since he became president on March 30, 2011.-VNA
