Hanoi (VNA) – Indonesian President Joko Widodo and his spouse arescheduled to pay a State visit to Vietnam on September 11-12 at the invitationof Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang.

This is his first official visit to Vietnam since his assumption of thepresidency in 2014.

The trip aims to develop economic cooperationand expand market access between the two countries.

The visit by President Widodo takes place in the context that the Vietnam –Indonesia strategic partnership has recorded new progress since the officialvisit to Indonesia by General Secretary of the Communist Party of VietnamCentral Committee Nguyen Phu Trong in August 2017, and serves as an importantfocus that helps orient the bilateral cooperation in the new stage five yearsafter the establishment of the strategic partnership.

Vietnam and Indonesia established diplomatic relations on December 30, 1955.

In recent years, trade between the two countries has seen encouraging progress.Two-way trade value rose to 5.6 billion USD in 2016 from 4.6 billion USD in2012. The figure in the 2017 further increased to 6.5 billion USD and 4.7billion USD for the first seven month of this year, while the two sides arestriving to bring it to 10 billion USD in 2020. Vietnam’s main exports toIndonesia include rice, crude oil, cement, electronic components and farmproduce, and its main imports from the country are fertiliser, gasoline,packaging material, machinery, fabrics, paper and confectionery.-VNA

Voter turnout reaches 99.64% as of 22:00 on March 15

Lao Cai was the locality that completed voting the earliest (at 17:45) and, together with the central city of Hue, was one of two out of 34 localities to reach 100% voter participation. Notably, Lao Cai province has 173 voters aged 100 and above (31 men and 142 women).

Voter turnout exceeds 80% nationwide by mid-afternoon

Many localities have recorded high voter turnout, particularly several northern mountainous provinces such as Lao Cai, Dien Bien, Lai Chau, and Tuyen Quang. Other localities, including Ha Tinh, Da Nang, Lang Son, Nghe An, and Thai Nguyen, have also reported a rate of more than 90%.
