Infants top priority in injection of 5-in-1 vaccine

Vietnam will prioritise injecting combined DPT-VGB-Hib vaccine against diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, hepatitis B, and haemophilus influenza type B (Hib), also known as 5-in-1 vaccine, for the youngest age group from 2 months old and more, the Ministry of Health said on December 19.

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam will prioritise injecting combinedDPT-VGB-Hib vaccine against diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, hepatitis B,and haemophilus influenza type B (Hib), also known as 5-in-1 vaccine, for theyoungest age group from 2 months old and more, the Ministry of Health said onDecember 19.

Accordingly, infants from 2 months old andmore who have yet to receive any DPT-VGB-Hib vaccine injection will be giventhe highest priority.

Deputy Director of the ministry’s NationalInstitute of Hygiene and Epidemiology Duong Thi Hong said that the expandednational immunisation programme on December 15 received 490,600 doses of thistype of vaccine donated by the Australian Government to implement the vaccinationfor babies in the first months of 2024.

In the first quarter of 2024, the ministry will continue strengtheningsurveillance over diseases in the expanded national immunisation programme suchas measles, rubella, polio, diphtheria, whooping cough, neonatal tetanus, and prepareto implement the vaccine against acute diarrhea caused by Rota virus as a new vaccinein the programme in 33 provinces and cities from the second quarter of 2024./.

All People’s Health Day promotes early disease prevention

Free cancer screening, health checks to benefit 10,000 people in Hanoi

Participants will receive comprehensive health checks through a streamlined one-stop process, including blood pressure measurement, height and weight assessment, BMI and cardiovascular risk evaluation, blood tests, general examinations and specialist consultations in internal medicine, paediatrics, obstetrics, ophthalmology, ENT, dentistry and oncology. Rapid blood glucose testing and biochemical screening will also be conducted to detect diabetes and metabolic disorders.

Over 25,000 hand, foot and mouth disease cases posted in 3 months

In the first three months, more than 25,000 cases of hand, foot and mouth disease have been recorded nationwide. Of the total cases, around 18,000, or nearly 72%, were concentrated in southern provinces. The disease has primarily affected children aged between one and five.

AI boosts early detection of non-communicable diseases

Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Lien Huong said NCDs pose a growing global challenge, accounting for over 70% of deaths worldwide, mainly from cardiovascular diseases, cancer, diabetes and chronic respiratory diseases.
