International tourist arrivals to Hanoi have seen a significant increase in the first five months

In 2023, Hanoi aims to welcome approximately 22 million tourists, representing a 17.6% increase compared to 2022. The target includes hosting 3 million international visitors and 19 million domestic travelers.

On May 31st, the Hanoi Department of Tourism revealed that in the first five months of 2023, the city welcomed over 10 million visitors, marking an impressive 53.9% increase compared to the same period in 2022

Out of these, the number of international tourists reached 1.71 million, nearly ten times higher than the figure in the same period of 2022. 

Hanoi currently boasts 3,756 accommodation establishments with a total of 70,218 rooms, including 602 hotels rated from 1 to 5 stars. 

The average occupancy rate of 1 to 5-star hotels reached approximately 56.5%, a substantial 37.2% increase compared to the same period in 2022.

The city's shopping, dining, and entertainment services have met the required standards to cater to the growing number of tourists and locals who visit for sightseeing and shopping.

Hanoi's tourism sector is focusing on upgrading and developing various tourist routes, connecting the city center to places like the Bat Trang ceramic village, the Perfume Pagoda with the Tam Chuc-Trang An tourist area, the Son Tay-Ba Vi area, Thach That-Quoc Oai, and Dong Anh-Soc Son. 

Emphasizing the strengths of each locality, new types of tourism are also being promoted, including night tourism and experiential tourism products

Last year, Hanoi received high praise from reputable travel magazines and websites for its attractiveness as a tourist destination. 

For example, TripAdvisor ranked Hanoi 22nd on its list of the top 25 culinary destinations in 2022. 

Furthermore, the city was honored with the title of World's Leading City Break Destination 2022 by the World Travel Awards (WTA).
