Irishman Prof. William Walmsley Hall, Director of the US organisation, The Atlantic Philanthropies (AP), has been presented with an insignia “For Peace and Friendship among Nations.”
The award is in recognition of his positive contributions to the Vietnamese health and education system as well as the country’s poverty reduction.
Addressing the ceremony in Hanoi on July 19, President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations Vu Xuan Hong spoke highly of the activities of the AP and Prof. Hall in particular.
The insignia was given to highlight Prof. Hall’s contributions to boosting friendship and all-faceted cooperation in all fields between Vietnam and other countries, including Ireland, he added.
For his part, Prof. Hall expressed his honour to receive the award, saying that he considers Vietnam as his second home.
He pledged to further contribute to the development of the Vietnamese health and education systems as well as the country’s poverty reduction.-VNA
