The Japan International Co-operation Agency will provide a 4 million USD grant this year to build a waste-water treatment project in Hoi An, one of the nation's leading tourist destinations.

"The project will treat waste-water along a stretch of the Hoai River where the famous Cau (bridge) Pagoda is located," said Le Van Giang, chairman of the Hoi An City People's Committee.

Cau Pagoda was built in the 17th century but is now suffering from the affects of severe water pollution caused by untreated household waste water discharged directly into the Hoai River.-VNA
