During the five-day visit to the city, the Japanese delegation led by Coast Guard Superintendent Akihiro Hirano will pay a courtesy visit to leaders of the Da Nang People’s Committee, the Vietnam Marine Police High Command, the Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centre Region II and Marine Police Region II.
They will, together with the Vietnam Marine Police, run search and rescue drills at sea, exchange experiences on sea and island protection and combating piracy and tour the landscapes of the city and its vicinity.
The Vietnam Marine Police and the Japan Coast Guard are active members of the Regional Cooperation Agreement on Combating Piracy and Armed Robbery against Ships in Asia.
This is the third visit made by the Japan Coast Guard to Vietnam to foster cooperation, mutual understanding and trust between the two nations’ marine law enforcement.-VNA
