The Japan Times runs an article on Vietnamese President Vo Van Thuong’s official visit (Screenshot: VNA) In its article, the Japan Times wrote thatJapanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and President Thuong agreed toelevate the relationship to a “comprehensive strategic partnership”. The movemakes Japan one of Vietnam's top-tier partners, along with the US, China,Russia, the Republic of Korea, and India.
It also cited Thuong as saying that theupgraded ties opened a “new chapter” in bilateral relations as the twocountries become “even more closely aligned” and contribute to regional peaceand stability.
In their joint statement, the two sidesvowed to ramp up cooperation to “new heights” and further expand it to “newfronts”, including in the fields of economic security, energy, digitaltransformation, people-to-people exchanges and regional security, the articlewrote.
The Japan News stressed in its article thatmany countries are approaching Vietnam - which is engaging in “omnidirectionaldiplomacy” - and Japan is keen to catch up.

The Emperor expressed his hope that theVietnamese leader's visit to Japan will help further the longstanding relationshipbetween the two countries, wrote the article.
