JETRO holds trade connection programme

Hanoi (VNS/VNA) - The Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) opened “GOODGOODS Japan 2019” in Hanoi on September 27 to create trade connections betweenJapanese and Vietnamese enterprises.

As many as 52enterprises from Japan take part along with around 100 Vietnamese companies.

The purpose of theprogramme is to support Japanese small- and medium-sized enterprises operatingin consumer goods to exploit and expand the ASEAN market, especially Vietnam'spotential market, with consumer products having quality, safety and outstandingdesign, said Tomofumi Abe, JETRO's project director.

Vietnam is adeveloping economy with an annual GDP growth rate of more than 6 percent,leading to an increase in income and the demand for high-quality consumergoods, according to JETRO.

Meanwhile, Japaneseconsumer goods sector is popular in the world market with products such askitchen utensils, detergents and cosmetics. The Japanese companies hope toexpand overseas including a large Vietnamese market.

This is the sixthtrade connection for the consumer goods to meet needs of Japanese andVietnamese enterprises, Abe said. It is one of the activities implemented byJETRO since 2012 to support Japanese enterprises to exploit markets in ASEANcountries.

"In the previoustrade connection programme, many Japanese and Vietnamese enterprises reachedmany agreements to import Japanese goods into Vietnam to meet the increasing demandfor this product," Abe said.

"Besides that,JETRO has cooperated with Vietrade, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and theMinistry of Planning and Investment to organise similar trade connectionactivities between businesses of Japan and Vietnam to promote trade between thetwo countries."/.

Can Tho, Guangxi seek collaboration in logistics, supply chains

Chinese investors now back 35 projects in Can Tho with registered capital of nearly 1.2 billion USD. In the first seven months of 2026, Can Tho’s exports to China hit 77.5 million USD, while imports stood at 64.7 million USD. Key exports included rice, seafood, farm produce, processed agricultural products and apparel while main imports comprised agricultural chemicals, veterinary medicines, fertilisers, chemicals, fabrics and other materials and inputs.

Vietnam, Russia move to boost financial cooperation

On bilateral economic, trade and investment ties, Tuan said two-way trade hit 3.24 billion USD in the first seven months of 2026, up 12% from a year earlier. Vietnam’s exports to Russia totaled 1.33 billion USD, while imports amounted to 1.91 billion USD.
