JICA official receives agricultural ministry’s insignia

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) on March 22 presented the insignia “For the Cause of Agriculture and Rural Development” to Deputy Representative of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Vietnam Yasuhiro Tojo.

According to Luong The Phiet, Acting Director of the MARD’sInternational Cooperation Department, during his four-year term inVietnam, Yasuhiro Tojo has made active contributions to building andimplementing projects in the agricultural sector, transferringscientific and technological advancements and strengthening managementcapacity for localities.

Phiet said that JICA has helped Vietnam implement a number ofprojects, including afforestation on sandy areas, animal diseasecontrol, improvement of the adaptability to natural disasters andtraining in management of national parks and natural reserves.

JICA projects have helped boost the development of Vietnam ’sagriculture and rural development, he added.

Emphasising the importance of Japan ’s assistance to Vietnam ,especially in the agricultural sector, Phiet also expressed his wishthat Japan in general and JICA in particular will continue theirsupports for Vietnam in this field./.

National, local traffic safety committees to be dissolved from June 1
