K'Ho people in Lam Dong celebrate rice harvest festival

A traditional rice harvest festival of the K'ho S'Re people took place recently at the K'Ho Traditional Village in Lam Dong province. The event was part of a series of activities celebrating the 10th Da Lat Flower Festival in 2024, running from December 5-31.

The rice harvest festival is a long-standing tradition among ethnic groups in the Central Highlands. After the harvest, Central Highlands people usually hold a ceremony to celebrate the new rice crop, expressing gratitude to Giang (the supreme God) and other spirits for a bountiful harvest and a prosperous life.

It is also an occasion for villagers to come together and enjoy the fruits of their labour.

This ritual is deeply rooted in the animistic belief that all things possess a spirit, and it represents a unique cultural identity.

Such distinctive traditional festivals are a hallmark of ethnic minority people in southern Central Highlands, particularly the K'ho people./.
