Havana (VNA) – A delegation from the CentralHighlands province of Lam Dong paid a working visit to Cuba from June 18 to 20 toenhance friendship and seek cooperation chances.

The delegation, led by Tran Duc Quan, member of the CommunistParty of Vietnam Central Committee, Secretary of the provincial Party Committeeand Chairman of the provincial People’s Council, made a courtesy call on RobertoMorales Ojeda, Politburo member and permanent member of the Secretariat of the CommunistParty of Cuba (PCC) Central Committee; had working sessions with leaders of thePCC Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations, the Party Committee ofHavana, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Investment, the Ministry of Tourism, andthe Cuba Chamber of Commerce; and met with the First Secretary of the Party Committee of Matanzas province.

Receiving the delegation, Roberto Morales Ojeda emphasisedthe Cuban Party and State leaders’ support for exchanges and cooperationbetween the countries’ localities and businesses so as to strengthen friendshipand expand ties to the fields matching both sides’ strengths and demand.

Cuban leaders encourage the sharing of experience in socio-economic development and locality-to-locality andbusiness-to-business links between the two countries, he noted.

The official affirmed the readiness to provide optimalconditions for Lam Dong and Matanzas provinces to implement collaboration activities fruitfully.

For his part, Quan spoke highly of Cuba’s development potentialand cooperation opportunities for the countries’ localities and enterprises.

He also emphasised the wish to foster Lam Dong’s exchangesand all-round partnerships with Matanzas province, organisations, andenterprises of Cuba.

At the meetings, leaders of the Cuban ministries, sectors,and localities stressed the significance of the Cuba - Vietnam specialfriendship.

The two sides discussed the situation and fields of cooperationto help further expand and intensify the special friendship between theircountries.

The Lam Dong delegation and Matanzasofficials outlined cooperation orientations for the time ahead and signed amemorandum of understanding on cooperation for 2023 - 2028.

On behalf of the Party organisation, administration,Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and people of Lam Dong, Quan presented 1 million USD to theFaustino Perez Hospital in Matanzas to help its emergency centre procure medicalequipment, along with computers and electronic devices to the Nico Lopez Higher School of the PCC. The visiting delegationalso donated some pharmaceuticals produced by Lam Dong businesses to theFaustino Perez Hospital.

Meanwhile, the businesses joining the Lam Dong delegationalso engaged in many meetings and events to seek partnership chances with Cubanlocalities and companies./.
