Lao Cai: 14 more communes to connect to national grid

An additional 714 households in the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai will gain access to electricity later this year.

Lao Cai (VNA) – An additional 714 households in the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai will gain access to electricity later this year.

This is the outcome of a project launched in the locality on January 16, and will benefit 14 hamlets in Muong Khuong district’s Lung Khau Nhin, Cao Son and La Pan Tan communes.

Secretary of the local Party Committee Nguyen Van Vinh hailed the significance of the project, which reflects the attention of the Party, State and the Northern Power Corporation to ethnic people in Muong Khuong district.

The project will help boost socio-economic development and poverty reduction in the district’s disadvantaged communes, and improve locals’ spiritual lives, he added.-VNA

Government pushes stronger data integration to tighten IUU fishing controls

According to the MAE, as of November 15, a total of 79,360 fishing vessels nationwide had been registered and updated in the national fisheries database (VNFishbase), reaching 100%. The number of licensed vessels stands at 76,811. Vessels found ineligible for operation have been placed under local supervision, with commune- and ward-level authorities assigned to manage their mooring.
