Chief Justice of the Vietnam Supreme People’s Court Truong Hoa Binh conferred the insignia “For the Cause of the Court of Vietnam” on Deputy Chief Judge of the Lao Supreme People’s Court Khampha Sengdara at a reception in Hanoi on August 5.

The distinction was intended to honour his dedication to ties between the two Supreme People’s Courts and to the special friendship between the two Parties, States and peoples.

Binh briefed his guest on the role of People’s Courts in Vietnam as stipulated in the 2013 Constitution and the 2014 Law on Organisation of People’s Courts, with major changes in power and organisational structure.

Vietnam established an administrative court in the People’s Court system in 1996 to handle administrative complaints, protect the legitimate interests of citizens and strengthen the socialist legal system, Binh said, adding that the information will be helpful for Laos to launch similar services in its legal system.

Sengdara expressed his hope that the Supreme People’s Court of Vietnam would assist Laos in personnel training for its future administrative court.

Discussing the future cooperative plan, both sides were keen to facilitate visits by senior Supreme People’s Court officials to share experiences and discuss issues of shared concern.-VNA
