A ceremony was held in the capital city of Vientiane on August 13 to celebrate the 60 th founding anniversary of the Lao Front for National Construction (LFNC) (August 13).

Present at the ceremony were Party General Secretary and State President Chummaly Sayasone, National Assembly Chairman Thongsinh Thammavong, Prime Minister Bouasone Buphavanh and other senior Party and State officials of Laos .

President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee (VFFCC), Huynh Dam, and the Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos , Ta Minh Chau, also attended the event.

President Chummaly Sayasone applauded the achievements the LFNC has recorded over the past six decades. He emphasised that the LFNC needs to uphold its leading role in gathering the Lao people to strengthen solidarity, both domestically and internationally, to realise the goal of speeding up national modernisation and industrialisation and lifting Laos out of the undeveloped status by 2020 as set by the 8 th Party National Congress.

President of the LFNC Central Committee Sisavath Keobounphan recalled the 60-year-old glorious tradition of the LFNC, affirming that it would continue to uphold the spirit of great national unity, consistently follow the Party’s guideline, and encourage the Lao people to engage in the cause of national construction and defence.

VFFCC President Huynh Dam said the people and the Fatherland Front of Vietnam are always proud of the traditional solidarity, special friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, States and peoples that have been nurtured by President Ho Chi Minh, President Kayson Phomvihan and generations of leaders and people of Vietnam and Laos .

Bilateral cooperation between the two Fronts have also brought practical results to both sides, Dam said, adding that Vietnam would spare no efforts to elevate the solidarity, special friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two nations.

On this occasion, the LFNC Central Committee was honoured with a Golden Star Order – the highest award conferred by the Vietnamese State .

A day earlier, 14 officials of the LFNC Central Committee were presented with the Friendship Order bestowed by the Vietnamese State and the insignia “For the cause of national solidarity” awarded by the VFFCC. The LFNC Central Committee also granted its insignia to a number of leaders and officials of the VFFCC./.
