(Source: VNA) Vientiane (VNA) – General Secretary of the LaoPeople’s Revolutionary Party and President Bounnhang Volachith has urged theMinistries of Public Security of Vietnam and Laos to further their cooperationin crime combat, especially organised, trans-national, drug and high-techcrimes.
At a reception for Vietnamese Minister of Public SecuritySen. Lieut. Gen. To Lam in Vientiane on January 27, the Lao leader highlyvalued cooperation outcomes between the two ministries over the past time.
For his part, Minister Lam said Vietnamese people in generaland the police force in particular always keep in mind the valuable support of theLao side in the past struggle for national liberation as well as the presentcause of national defence and the country’s efforts to ensure social order andsafety.
The Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security will do itsutmost to promote the comprehensive cooperation with its Lao counterpart, meetingrequirements and tasks in the new situation, in order to consolidate thespecial friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries, forthe sake of the two countries’ people, and for peace, stability and developmentin the region and the world at large.
Lam called on the Lao leader to create favourable conditionsfor competent agencies of the two ministries to intensify their collaborationin fighting crimes and protecting national security and safety in each nation.
Earlier the same day, during their talks, Lam and his Laocounterpart Somkeo Silavong reviewed the close and effective cooperation betweenthe two sides in 2017, including the celebration of the Vietnam-Laos Friendshipand Solidarity Year.
They signed a cooperation plan for 2018, under which the twosides will maintain high-level meetings between leaders of the two ministries,partner with each other to fight hostile forces who aim to undermine thebilateral friendship, implement international agreements and treaties to whichboth are members, and consult and support each other at regional andinternational forums on crime combat.-VNA
